1. HOW EARLY SHOULD I BOOK IN?

You can book in up to 12 months prior to your wedding day. To ensure a space in our drying equipment the earlier you book the better. A $200.00 deposit is required to confirm your booking and payment can be made by cash, cheque, credit card, direct deposit or money order. Please phone 1300 737 670.

2. CARE OF BOUQUET BEFORE SHIPPING

After your wedding place your bouquet in a vase and keep it in the fridge until shipping. Be sure to place it in the front section of the fridge to prevent the flowers from freezing. If you are able to, cut 1cm off the bottom of the stems before doing this. If the bouquet is in a holder, gently pour water over the centre of the holder. If you don’t have access to a fridge, a cool room is fine.

NEVER FREEZE YOUR BOUQUET.

3. HOW DO I PACK AND SEND MY FLOWERS TO THE FLOWER FACTORY?

If you live outside of our free bouquet collection area you will need to pack your flowers in a box. We recommend purchasing a mailing/storage box from Australia Post.

To pack your bouquet, place scrunched up tissue paper or paper towel in the bottom of the box. Place the bouquet on top of the paper then place more paper around the sides of the bouquet so it is supported. If you’re using newspaper, it is important you place some kitchen towel or tissue paper directly on top of the flowers to prevent the newspaper from staining (particularly with white flowers).

With longer bouquets you may need to bend the trail or cut off the last few flowers to fit it into the box. You don’t need to worry about doing this as we will be disassembling your bouquet as soon as we receive it. (If you do cut a part of the bouquet off, please ensure you forward a photograph or let us know you have done this).

If your bouquet has been hydrated and is packed with care, the flowers will arrive at The Flower Factory in the same condition as when you sent them.

Please put your name, address and phone number in the box with your flowers.

We recommend using Australia Post guaranteed next day delivery to send your bouquet (spelling) to us. We have found this to be a very reliable and cost effective option. Cost will depend on the size/weight of the box and where you are posting it from.

4. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Prices vary depending on the size of your bouquet and range from $395 to over $800. The average price for a display is $595.00.

5. WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS?

We accept cash, credit card and direct deposit.

A $200.00 reservation deposit is required to confirm your booking. A second payment of $200.00 is required 12 weeks after your wedding/event date. The balance is due on completion (approx. 6 months after your wedding/event date).  Preservation displays including Marriage Certificates & Photographs can take longer.

6. HOW DO I CHOOSE MY FRAME/DISPLAY?

We’ll send you a frame selection brochure for you to select your frame. If you need assistance with selecting a suitable frame please call, we’re always happy to help. Your frame choice is due back to us 12 weeks after your wedding date.

7. HOW LONG DO FREEZE DRIED FLOWERS LAST?

A number of factors contribute to how long your freeze dried flowers will last. These include the age of the flowers when we received them, the amount of UV light, heat and humidity exposure, and how the display is maintained. Unless the display is dropped or mishandled, the shape and arrangement of flowers will remain the same as when you received it.

8. WHAT IS FREEZE DRYING?

Freeze drying is the removal of water vapour from flowers while in a frozen state. This enables the flowers to retain their shape and size. Fresh flowers are placed on trays and loaded into the freeze-drying chamber. Moisture is locked into the cellular tissue of the flowers by freezing them solid. Air inside the chamber is pumped out creating a vacuum. Then ice within the flowers slowly changes to vapour. When these vapours contact the colder refrigerated ice condenser, they again change their state to solid ice. This cycle of solid-vapour-solid is described as sublimation. The end product is natural looking in appearance.

9. THE FLOWER FACTORYS 5 STEP PRESERVATION PROCESS EXPLAINED.

The Flower Factory carefully preserves your wedding bouquet using the latest freeze dry technology. Our five-step process ensures the highest standard of floral preservation.

Step 1: Hydrate.

Your bouquet is photographed, inventoried and dismantled. Each bloom is then re-hydrated.

step2

Step 2: Pre-treat.

We pre-treat the flowers with a solution to make them more durable, shatter-resistant and retain their natural colour. The flowers are loaded onto trays and frozen to prepare them for the freeze drying process.

step3

Step 3: Freeze Dry.

The flowers are placed in the specimen chamber of the freeze dryer and remain under vacuum for 12-16 days. Our state of the art equipment allows us to determine when all of the moisture has been removed from the flowers.

step4

Step 4: Post-treat.

A wire stem is added to each flower head to prepare it for colour enhancement and sealing.

step6

Step 5: Design & Frame.

Your bouquet is then re-constructed to the original design and framed in a 3D shadow box of your choice.

step7

10. CAN ALL FLOWERS BE FREEZE DRIED & WILL THEY CHANGE COLOUR?

Almost all varieties of flowers can be successfully preserved. The end result is influenced by the freshness and quality of the flowers before they are freeze dried. Colour variations can occur although we minimise this by using pre-treatments on flowers before they are dried.
11. HOW DO I GET MY DISPLAY WHEN IT IS COMPLETED?

Your display can be collected or it can be delivered to you by courier. We carefully pack it in a custom made delivery box to ensure its safe arrival to you.
